Shining the Light after 200 Years!

In 2024, the congregation of Red Lion United Methodist Church made the prayerful decision to disaffiliate from the United Methodist Church denomination and start fresh as Red Lion Church.

In October 2025, Red Lion Church became an officially chartered member of the newly formed Global Methodist Church - remaining on mission to share the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ alone.

Rev. John & Mary Dunnack

After close to 30 years of faithful gospel ministry in the pastoring of Red Lion Church, the Lord called Pastor Emeritus, the Rev. John Michael Dunnack home to heaven on May 17, 2026. A few weeks later, on June 30, 2026 his beloved wife, the gifted musician, Mary Elizabeth Dunnack likewise went home to be with the Lord - the two united in His presence for eternity. Parents of three beautiful adult children: Glen, Melinda, and Julie, and pastor to so many, they left a strong Biblical foundation and loving witness of God's love. They spearheaded the re-launch of Red Lion Church in their latter years, lovingly shepherding the congregation into the Global Methodist Church before retiring on December 31, 2025.

On July 1, 2026, Pastor Samuel Harrell, supported by his loving wife Rhodah, began service as new lead Pastor of Red Lion Church after being appointment by Bishop Leah Hidde-Gregory at the recommendation of the Delaware District Northeast Conference of the Global Methodist Church.

MEET PASTOR SAM & RHODAH HARRELL

A native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Pastor Sam received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in August of 1979. Believing he was called by God to the gospel ministry, he was licensed in November 1989 by the Ezekiel Baptist Church in Philadelphia. He was later licensed to the United Methodist Church and served for two years as pastor of Bethesda United Methodist Church in Middletown, DE after which he transitioned to the Global Methodist Church in November 2024. He received his Bachelors of Science in Bible with an emphasis on Christian Leadership degree from Philadelphia College of Bible (now, Cairn University). In addition to pastoring, Pastor Sam serves as Chief Partnerships Officer for American Bible Society (ABS). He also writes contemporary Christian music. See: samharrellmusic.com.

Pastor Sam is married to his wife and best friend, Rhodah. She received Christ in 1986, and earned both her Bachelor's in Education and Master's in Early Childhood Education degrees from Cairn University. It is there that she met Pastor Sam in 1993. Marrying in 1999, they are the blessed parents of three adult children: Christopher, Christen (aka Hope), and Gracie. She has worked at the University of Delaware for more than 20 years in a special childcare partnership. She is a woman of God who loves Jesus, her family, and friends with all of her heart.

Both celebrate the joy and promises of Psalm 73:24-26 KJV

"24 Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.

25 Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.

26 My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever."
